Bastille day celebrations!
20th February 2008Every year in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc on the 14 July, there is a spectacular fireworks display combined with bridge jumps performed with flares; a zip wire and a skillful performance by canoeists who make the lights they carry 'dance' down the river.
People pack the banks of the Ardèche river next to the bridge at Vallon-Pont-d'Arc just as it begins to get dark, waiting for the spectacle to begin.
This day which celebrates the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution is refered to as 'la Fête Nationale'.
