This section of the website is dedicated to open canoe development (Canadian canoes). There are options for people who wish to learn new skills and/or develop current ones. We will also be offering a number of official B.C.U. (British Canoe Union) courses soon so watch this space!
Canoe Development...
The aim of these courses is to help develop your ability to handle an open canoe effectively on both flat and white water (grade 2). Covering 2, 3 and 4 star skills from the B.C.U. syllabus, we will tailor the course to your ability. You will have the opportunity to learn how to read the river, practice rescue techniques and generally become a better paddler with personal guidance from some of the most experienced and qualified guides in the region.

Introduction to white-water canoeing
This 4 night option includes 3 days personalised coaching on the Ardeche river in Canadian Canoes. A perfect introduction to moving water for both solo and tandem paddlers in an amazing environment.
Private canoe coaching
This private coaching option will be tailored to your requirements. It will include appropriate sections of the Ardeche river and/or other neighbouring rivers. Perfect if you want some personal coaching prior to a course assessment or just want to develop you skills.
Our standard river trips (see Our Holidays) use sit-on-top kayaks for clients because this requires less experience. They are also suitable for all ages and abilities and enable you to get the most from your river trip. However, guided river trips are possible in open canoes for clients with appropriate experience/qualifications. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
